What is national distress?
When we are invaded.
When nature disaster strike; something huge like the Asian Tsunami.
When food crisis strike; not just temporarily shortage of sugar or cooking oil… but when people started to feel the hunger because of food shortage.
When hyperinflation… not when people are chatting in Starbucks on how expensive our fuel is, but when people can’t even afford a cup of coffee in mamak stall.
When people are started losing jobs and couldn’t find new jobs. When unemployment is largely due to lack of jobs and not because of the poor qualities (and some laziness) of our young graduates.
When the police and armed forces are becoming thugs. This is the one hanging on borderline… but set aside a few political cases, the police are still doing their job to fight crimes. Remember this, some of them are risking their lives to protect ours.
When democracy is irrelevant. Don’t tell me that our democracy is dead… we are given the rights to vote, and despite not being perfectly fair, we do have the power to determine which parties and people we want to form our government.
If Malaysia is in distress, what should we call other countries like Philippines or India? For name sake I don’t even think the likes of Philippines and India are in distress yet, let alone Malaysia?
Some Malaysians are just too pampered these days… distress? WTF.
Razak Baginda’s former private investigator, P Balasubramaniam, has made a statutory declaration on July 1 regarding Altantuya’s murder case.
The details of the SD is available on Nat’s blog. To cut it short…
a. Balasubramaniam was hired by Abdul Razak Baginda (ARB) in October 2006 to deal with a threat calling him to pay his debts. He later identified that person as Ang (or ASP Tan), a private investigator employed by Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaaribuu.
b. Altantuya, identified herself as Aminah, claimed that she was there to see her boyfriend Abdul Razak Baginda. She (or Mr Ang) was demanding USD$500,000 commission owed to Aminah from a (submarine) deal in Paris.

Liwat-gate, sodomy-gate, turkey-gate, whatever-gate… the million dollar question is, is Anwar orchestring his own play?
The thought of Anwar plotting the show is rising for the past two days… just that most people who share the thought would not dare to raise their concerns fearing of being branded as cynical and also the backlash from PKR and Anwar’s supporters.
Just a few thoughts…
Who is the one that is actually benefiting the most from the current saga?
Is BN government that stupid to frame Anwar using the same old trick?
Who is behind the death threat?
Did Anwar really received a death threat or just tips from ‘reliable sources’?
Is the whole police force that corrupted that they are no good cops around at all?
Is it a logical choice to seek protection from a foreign embassy?
WTF do we need to involve foreign interference with this?
Isn’t it a bit too convenient for Turkey to provide the sanctuary?
Is Malaysia that volatile these days?
Are we in the same league of Myanmar, Zimbabwe or Pakistan?
I don’t want to suggest anything further… plenty of questions with no apparent answers though.
A few thoughts worth reading from other bloggers… Aizuddin and Bigdog.
A police report has been lodged against PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for allegedly sodomosing one of his aides… the second time that such an accusation had been made in over 10 years. [Malaysiakini]
Anwar responded that the report is a complete fabrication, which could be a retaliation for evidence he has recently obtained implicating IGP Musa Hassan and AG Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against him in 1998-1999.
When Anwar was first accused of sodomy in 1997… the people were separated in opinions; but this time, people would find it hard to believe that he’s not been framed.
Update - PM Badawi claimed that BN government is not behind this and would leave the police to conduct investigations on the allegations and to take the necessary action. [Thestar]
A drug suspect made his escape yesterday in the police car he was being escorted in.
The drama happened when the escort stopped for a toilet break at the Tapah rest area… it is believed that two policemen alighted from the vehicle while one stayed behind to watch over the suspect.
The suspect, however, managed to get into the front seat after a scuffle, successfully pushing the officer out the door and taking off in the car. [Thestar]
More dramatic than watching “Prison Break”.
Police shot dead a man who was wanted for gunning down two policemen during a drug raid that went awry in October 2007. The man, identified as Soh Kee Seng, 35, was killed during a shoot-out after a 10-minute car chase on March 8 (2008). [Thestar]
This news didn’t get much attention during the election peak… just felt that it’s worth sharing here despite a bit late.
Attention to KL motorcyclist using the Federal Highway… it has been brought to my attention that there are suspected malicious act of people putting nails on the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway (near Carlsberg) each morning to ‘find’ victims with punctured tyres and charged them expensive fees to change their tyres.
A reader has alerted me that two of her staff were injured because of the accidents, and I believe there are more injury cases that went under the carpet. These dirty tactics are not something new, but has been happening for years; it’s pathetic to see people risking other’s life for some easy money.
If you have fell victim to this trap, do report to the police. They might ignore one or two cases, but they will take action if they received more cases… our police are not as lazy as some might believe, there are still good cops around. They might not be able to prevent these gimmicks from happening all together, but they could at least reduce the incident in short term.
I have written to TheStar about this, hopefully they could publish the alert on their paper. Meanwhile, do warn your motorcyclist friends about the trap, and be careful if you are a motorcyclist.
Malaysia crime rates are rising in an alarming rate… there was a dramatic 13.4% increase in violent crimes last year, of which rape cases were up by about 30% and gang robbery by a whopping 160%. [Malaysiakini]
We need to act fast to cope with this problem; it is a matter that concerned every Malaysian citizens, and quite often it’s a matter of life and death.
I don’t quite understand how the crime rates could be soaring sky high in the past few years. Set the crime fighting and prevention efforts aside… I couldn’t figure out how on earth did we managed to produce so many criminals in Malaysia.
