It’s been a hectic and bizarre week (or two) for Malaysians, with all the wild accusations flying here and there. Lots of Malaysians are fed up with all the politicking and scandals, and I felt kinda tired with the development as well.

Time for a bit of changes… no more political stuff here for the month of July (or longer perhaps). I will share something more casual and leisure about Malaysia instead. With so many social political blogs around these days, I guess my serious thoughts won’t be missed regardless.

Malaysia is beautiful, and I will try to show you that it still is.

I have decided to reopen the comment section for this blog. You can now leave a comment and share your thoughts here.

I closed the comment section in October 2007 because I felt that the commentors were abusing their freedom of expression with constant bashing back then and quite often without meaningful conversations.

It’s not that the situation has been improving… from reading other blogs, I’ve noticed that the trend is not getting better at all. There are still some rational netizens around, but most netizens are often biased in various issues without seeing it from an open point of view… while some of the netizens are just hopelessly radical and aggressive.

The thing that has changed though, is my personal perception. I believe I have more maturity in handling the comments, and I believe that with more interaction I could have better chances to spread moderation and to help fellow Malaysians to share more responsibilities while expressing our opinions freely.

It’s also my hope that I could developed a place for more meaningful discussion among Malaysians rather than common bashings and slandering.

Contrary to most bloggers who champion freedom of speech, I prioritised responsible words far more than the freedom of expression. So, there are a few simple rules to follow… besides that, just feel free to share your thoughts.

This is a site announcement.

I am closing the comment section of this blog. There are multiple reasons for me to make the decision… to cut it short I don’t think my blog is suitable to provide a platform for public debates.

I am not a champion for freedom of speech; I always believe that freedom comes with responsibility… but obviously some commentors don’t share the same sentiment. The comment section ended up with constant bashing and slandering.

I am not blaming the commentors though; I knew that this situation could happen… it’s just that I overestimated my tolerance in handling the matters. Ended up I have to edit/delete some of the comments… and it’s quite an irony to what I intend at the beginning - to provide a platform for people to express their opinion freely.

It’s probably better that I keep this blog as a place for self expression instead of public forum.

Thanks for all people that has left comments and ideas on this blog; my apology if some of you feel disappointed that I decided to close the section. I suggest people that want to voice their opinions to start your own blog instead… contact me if you need some help to start a blog.

All the best.

Update May 19 - the comment section is reopened again.

I have lots of thoughts and rants about Merdeka and Malaysia… but I don’t really know how to express it. Perhaps I should just be thankful that I am living in an independent country thanks to the effort of our former government leaders 50+ years ago.

Happy 50th Merdeka anniversary.
