Sung Sot Cave, Halong Bay, Vietnam

Sung Sot Cave (Cave of Surprises) is the largest cave in Halong Bay, Vietnam. Located at the Bo Hon Island, the cave got its name (grotte des surprises) from a French admiral who was surprised at the size of the cave when he discovered it.

Sung Sot Cave in Halong Bay, Vietnam

The limestone cave is now heavily developed for tourism, with granite pavements and coloured-lighting beautification. The natural elements seems pretty well preserved though, hopefully the in-flock of tourists won’t cause too much harm.

  7. Been to this impressive cave. The trip to Vietnam was exciting. Like looking at a piece of history.
    And there is another even bigger and complex cave, Hang Son Dong.
