Harper’s Bazaar magazine (Chinese edition) held their sixth annual charity gala in Beijing last Friday (Aug 22) with the attendance of some 300 celebrities, including A-list stars like Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi and former UK’s Prime Minister Tony Blair etc.
The 2008 gala managed to raise 10.35 million Yuan (~USD1.5 million) which will be channelled to the relief work in quake-hit areas in Sichuan province.

“The Forbidden Kingdom”, starring action superstars Jet Li and Jackie Chan, has topped the North American box office over the weekend.
The movie managed to haul in USD20.9 million in ticket sales (according to studio estimates) from Friday to Sunday in US and Canadian theaters.

“The Forbidden Kingdom”, starring action superstars Jet Li and Jackie Chan, is set to premiere on April 18 in US and some other countries.
Jet and Jackie, along with director Rob Minkoff, action choreographer Yuen Woo Ping and actresses Liu Yifei and Li Bingbing, met the press at a media event in Beijing on April 14 to promote the movie.

Rumours are flying around that Chinese starlet Liu Yifei is close to getting a role in Hollywood movie Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon.
Liu is set to make her Hollywood debut with Forbidden Kingdom, currently in filming alongside action superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li. If she does get the Mummy role as rumoured, 2008 will definitely be a big year for the young actress.
