Sony Walkman TPS-L2 modelSony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Walkman. The first model of the personal stereo-audio cassette player, TPS-L2 (pic), was introduced in Japan on July 1, 1979.

The Walkman brand was synonymous with portable personal audio devices until the emergence of iPod in 2001.

People who grew up in the 80s (like me) would have fond memories with the Walkman… most of you here are probably not from that era though.

One of the great fun of karaoke is to scream sing out loud; but Japanese, ironically, has invented a microphone kit for people to enjoy the karaoke at home without making too much noise…

Mute karaoke microphone kit from Japan

Basically it’s an innovation that absorbs the singers’ voices using ergonomic design and soft cushions. It probably beats the general purpose of karaoke… but how I wish some of my neighbours could get one for goodness sake. On second thought, the invention is not that ironic after all.

Dell Adamo, thinnest laptop in the world

With a general thickness of 0.65 inches (1.65 cm), the Adamo is thinner (depending on interpretation) than Apple’s MacBook Air which has a thickness of 0.16 to 0.76 inches.

The market is giving a mix review for the product, but most are wondering if the high-end laptop (USD1999+) could sell well during recession.

They should have done this long time ago; I guess it’s better late than never.

“Next Level” USB-album… pretty cool design (Image from Avex (Jp))

The idea is not new; American stars Matchbox 20 and Jennifer Lopez have done this before. Ayu is probably the first popular Japanese singer to try this though… I guess she is stamping her mark as the trendsetter at the land of the rising sun yet again.
