Korean actress Lee Ji-ah was rush to the hospital on Friday (Aug 1) while filming a water scene for “Beethoven Virus” in Gyeonggi-do when she suddenly complained of breathing difficulties. She is now discharged and recuperates at home.
Initial diagnosis showed that she might have developed hypothermia and meningitis, which was probably due to her being submerged in the chilly water for almost 20 hours in the past two days shooting the promotional posters and a underwater scene for the drama. [via Coolsmurf]

A Korean magazine has picked the most popular Korean drama characters in the first half of 2008. Actor Ji Sung and actress Han Ji-min top the list with their roles in “New Heart” and “Yi San” respectively.

The cast of Korean drama “Sikgaek” (식객; literally ‘Best Chef’) met with the press on June 9 at SBS to promote the drama, which is scheduled to start showing on June 17 in Korea.
Based on Heo Yeong-man’s popular manhwa (comic), Shikgaek is about a chef on his journey of discovery to become the rightful heir of Korea’s last royal chef. The drama stars Kim Rae-won, Nam Sang-mi, Kwon Oh-joong, Kim So-yeon and Woon Ki-joon etc.

Im Yoona from Korean pop group SNSD is taking the leading role in new KBS drama You Are My Destiny… her first prominent role in her acting career.
Yoona plays a young and cheerful lady who has just undergone a cornea transplant; the story revolves around her relationship with the donor’s family and her new found romance.
The co-stars include Park Jae-jung and Gong Hyun-joo etc.

“On Air” (온에어) is a Korean drama about TV drama production… behind the scenes, the challenges, struggles, teamwork, scandals and relationships.
The drama is directed by Shin Woo-chul and written by Kim Eun-suk, the team behind popular dramas “Lovers in Paris” and “Lovers in Prague” etc. Leading the cast are Lee Beom-soo, Kim Ha-neul, Park Yong-ha and Song Yun-ah.
First trailer for anime version of “Winter Sonata”, based on the (same title) Korean drama which was a big hit across Asia a few years ago.
The animation project was revealed in 2007, but only started gaining some serious notice in March 2008 after the announcement that Korean star Bae Yong-joon is going to voice his own character from the original drama… he shares a few words at the end of the trailer.
Update May 29 – Choi Ji-woo has agreed to join the project.
