Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Lunar New Year.
Traditional CNY greetings are usually about wealth and prosperity, but I prefer to wish everyone good health instead. The sentiment is especially strong this year for unfortunate reason(s) LoL.
It’s not uncommon for people to get sick during new year, it probably happens more often in this period than the rest of the year. Lack of sleep, extra travel plus all the junk food make a good recipe for illness.
My misfortune started earlier though. Sprained my knee when spring cleaning a week before the new year; had a bad sore throat and fever since Friday, lost my voice for a couple of days because of that; and misstepped on the staircase amidst the drowsiness and injured that freaking same knee again.
I’m recovering regardless. I have my voice back, the fever is gone and the throat shall be fine by tomorrow; the knee isn’t that bad as well and I’ll probably shake it off in a few days.
The positive thing out these is that I lost a few pounds in the process, which is a first during Chinese New Year period for the past few decades. The scale usually moved in the other direction instead =)
The little saga does raise a red flag that I should take better care of my body though. People may escape from the consequences of unhealthy lifestyle when we are younger but it becomes more difficult as age grows, we need to make extra effort to keep up that healthy body.
I’m pretty bad when it comes to fulfilling fitness resolutions but this has to be the year that I prioritise that above all else. It’s probably a matter of life or death in a grimmer picture LoL.
Well, enough of whiny stories. Wish everyone a happy and healthy 2019.
