Exclusive phone interview with Korean singer-actor Rain, real name Jung Ji-hoon, who is set to make his Hollywood debut next month with movie “Speed Racer”.

The interview was done via an interpreter; the only English words Rain had said were “Hi, I am Rain” and “Thank you, thank you. Nice to be hearing from you”… but I’ll take it as an honour regardless. Full transcripts below…

4.30am in the morning… just completed a phone interview with Korean superstar Rain, who is in Los Angeles to promote his Hollywood debut movie, the “Speed Racer”.

The interview was arranged by Warner Brothers. I somehow thought that it was going to be a conference call alongside other medias, but it turned out to be an exclusive interview… luckily I made enough preparation to fully utilise the 8 minutes.

I know lots of you are eager to hear what Rain has said during the interview, but you will have to wait until Monday to read the whole story (as requested by Warner Bros).

To be frank I feel a bit gay right now… never thought that I would be so excited talking to a guy… my heart is still beating in joyous mode and would probably last that way for another few good hours.

Thanks to Warner Bros for the arrangement, and thanks to Rain for accepting the interview. My female friends are going to be really jealous about this :)

[Update April 28] The interview is up.

Korean pop star Rain has launched his official site on April 8.

Frankly, the introductory flash animation sucks. The loading is slow, the dances are not cool, and the image looks poor with Rain’s face looking distorted. It’s cheap.

Set that aside, the site has a nice gallery and shares some decent information about Rain. Some of the links (discussion and English language etc.) are not working at the moment… perhaps they are launching the site to match the promotion of movie “Speed Racer” with Rain as the co-star, and thus chose to ignore some of the details.

korea-rain-035Korean pop star Rain will leave his mentor Park Jin-young after the end of his contract in June.

Rain joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2000 and made his debut in 2002; he is now one of the top Korean pop acts in the country and across Asia.

There are rumours that Rain will be starting his own company. Regardless, with his popularity and recent Hollywood advancement, he’s not short of options for sure.

JYP will have headache finding newcomers to fill the void… Wonder Girls perhaps?
