Life-size Gundam in Odaiba, Tokyo

A life-sized 18m Gundam model was assembled at Odaiba Island in Tokyo to mark the 30th anniversary of “Mobile Suit Gundam”, the very first Gundam anime series which evolved into a highly successful franchise over the years…

The real scale Gundam can do a few simple tricks, no big deal… but the details of the model itself is still pretty impressive.

The Gundam is going to be displayed for only two months unfortunately, it could turn to be Tokyo’s new tourist attraction if it’s kept for a much longer period.

Anime Festival Asia 2008

The inaugural Anime Festival Asia (AFA) was held last weekend (Nov 22-23) at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore. Was planning to travel south for the event but couldn’t make it; had to attend a wedding dinner in the northern Ipoh city instead.

Besides some minor hiccups, AFA08 seems to be a successful one. Sharing some pictures by Singaporean blogger Parka [complete Flickr set with 200+ photos]…

Heli-Q – smallest RC toy helicopter

Japanese toy maker Takara Tomy is introducing “Heli-Q”, the world’s smallest radio controlled toy helicopter which can make a 5-minute flight with a 20-minute battery charge.

Heli-Q will hit market next month for ~3500 yen apiece.
