Canton Road is a luxury brands shopping street in Hong Kong, which houses flagship stores of Hermes, Chanel, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Prada etc. The Chinese economic boom in the past decade has provided plenty of semi-rich customers who flocked to Hong Kong for these luxury products.

Hong Kong Mak Mun Kee wonton noodles
Mak Mun Kee Noodle House – probably my favourite restaurant in Hong Kong. Discovered the place in 2007, visited twice again during the recent trip.
Mak Mun Kee is famous for its wonton noodles and pig trotters. Its shrimp wontons are huge, fresh, with bouncy texture and great flavour. Loved the pig trotters too, which are simmered with red-fermented tofu, a Chinese speciality.
The restaurant will still be on top of my list when I visit Hong Kong next time.
Mak Mun Kee is located at 51, Parkes Street, Jordan.
Hong Kong Wong Tai Sin Temple
Revisiting Wong Tai Sin Temple after three years. WTS is one of the most iconic temples in Hong Kong, famed for “answering” the prayers among believers. A few extra attractions have been added to the temple compound since my 2007 visit, and there’s a lot more worshippers and tourists at the Taoist temple this time…
Back from HKMC
Back from my Hong Kong & Macau trip on Wednesday night. It’s back to reality after eight days of travel and leisure… with abundance of backlogs to clear.
Hong Kong and Macau were awfully hazy, we only had half a day of blue sky over the trip. Not sure if it’s pollution or simply the weather… probably a combination of both. The temperature was around 15-20°C which suited me well though.
Had lots of good food, 4-5 meals a day… yet amazingly managed to lose two pounds because of the heavy walking. I think I might have covered more distance on foot in the past week than I would normally walk in 5-6 months.
The casino packed Macau was a bit of eye opener, while Hong Kong a shopping heaven with fashion and electronic items aplenty at competitive prices. Other than that it’s usual touristy stuff, nothing spectacular sightseeing wise.
Travel photos coming soon, and regular updates will resume as usual.
[Update] First post of Hong Kong – Wong Tai Sin Temple
Going to Hong Kong & Macau
Will be leaving to Hong Kong and Macau tonight. AFAIK the hotels I’m staying do not have free internet connection, so this blog is not likely to be updated in the next 8-9 days during the travel.
This will be my second visit to Hong Kong, you can check my 2007 trip if interested. It’s going to be my first visit to Macau – the Las Vegas of the East, or Asia, as some say.
Meanwhile, I’ve added a new featured stories category for this blog, which includes some of the most popular blog posts and a few of my personal favourites. Check that out if you are bored, or if you are pretty new to the site and have missed some of those interesting stuff in the past few months.
Stay tune for my Hong Kong & Macau travelogue, ciao :)
A walk in Cemoro Lawang, the casuarina valley
A brief stroll at Cemoro Lawang, a small village on the Tengger Crater’s edge where we were staying for three nights during our Bromo trip in November 2009. It’s a pretty scenic place to walk around with a bit of European valleys feel…
