Lotteria (famous for burgers) is one of the biggest fast food chain in Korea. It first opened in Japan, and now with branches in China, Korea and Vietnam. Its Korean operation is probably the most successful out of all.

Tried their famous shrimp burger last week nearby Seoul (railway) Station, tasted damn good. Definitely will tried their other items again, there’s a few others on the menu which already caught my eye, i.e. kimchi burger and bulgogi burger.

Bibimbap, literally mixed rice, is an iconic Korean dish with white rice topped with various ingredients (vege, egg, meat etc.) and chili paste. Dolsot bibimbap is the version where the bibimbap is served in a hot stone bowl.

Japanese town of Washimiya estimates that the Lucky Star anime has brought over one billion yen (~ US$11 million) into the local economy after the town’s main shrine, the Washinomiya Shrine, was featured in the popular anime in 2007.

The full economic impact of Lucky Star cannot be determined for certain; but the sales of related goods alone have been pegged at 70 million yen.
Visitors during the New Year’s holidays (Japanese would traditionally visit a shrine) increased from 90,000 in 2007 to 450,000 in 2010; that’s plenty of tourism money for a small town with less than 40,000 of population. LUCKY star indeed.

Myeong-dong, arguably Seoul’s trendiest shopping district, is the place to hunt for mid-level fashion and beauty items, especially for the ladies. Visited the area on Sunday (Jan 17), it’s so crowded that there’s barely any spaces to stroll on.
