Reply 1997 – Alone music video by Bee Gees
Bumped into this music video while doing some Youtube hopping of western music from the 1990’s. Alone by British pop group Bee Gees, released in 1997.
Bee Gees have sold more than 220 million records in a career spanned over half-a-century, placing them among the world’s all time best-selling music artists.
Old memories
Not particularly fond of this song, but it’s one of those memory-trigger pieces that stuck in my head. I just started driving (mostly to tuition and libraries) back then and this was played so often on the radio that it became toxic LoL.
It was also during the first “major” crossroad I faced. Just got into pre-university and pondering whether I should switch to business or stay with science stream. Chose the later partly because of a girl, and the rest is history.
It’s been 20 years now. Two of the three brothers in Bee Gees are in heaven, and I’m probably halfway through my journey. Time flies for sure, carpe diem.
BTW, Reply 1997 is a popular Korean drama series about pop culture and memories in the 90’s. I’m borrowing the title to tell my own stories.
Fala Chen talks about hometown Chengdu
Video of Chinese actress Fala Chen who shares some views about her hometown, Chengdu. Decent film but a bit long-winded, could have cramped more information in a three minutes video.
I always thought that she was born in America. Apparently she was born and raised in China instead, until she was 14 years old when she emigrated to the United States with her family.
Chen entered the show business after earning a place as 1st runner-up in the 2005 Miss Chinese International Pageant. She worked primarily with TVB in Hong Kong and starred in numerous TV drama series until her contract ended in 2013. She did quite well during that period.
The actress settled some personal matters and went back to school after that. She’s currently studying in Juilliard in New York; it’s one of the world’s leading drama, music, and dance school. She’s expected to graduate next year (with a postgraduate or master degree.)
Not sure when the video was made but it looks recent. I visited the city over two decades ago when China was still at early stage of its economic boom. A lot of things have changed, obviously. I’m thinking of revisiting the place for comparison sake, but there are other priorities at the moment.
