Wonder Girls – The DJ Is Mine music video (ft. School Gyrls)

New English music video by Korean pop group Wonder Girls, The DJ Is Mine, featuring American pop group School Gyrls. The song will be used as OST for upcoming Wonder Girls themed TV-movie (co-starring the School Gyrls as well)…

Wonder Girls DJ Is Mine with School Gyrls

Everything looks/sounds more westernised than ever. Not my cup of tea, but Wonder Girls probably have better chance to make it in the US with this genre. I’ve always felt that it’s pointless though, for K-pop artists to make it big in the west by adapting too much to western pop while bringing nothing new. Perhaps I’m expecting too much.

I think this was very smart combining them with the American group school girls, it covers up their lack of English singing ability and keeps them in the American market, I think overall this will work.

    • Yein Jee says:

Marketing wise I think their agency has been doing their job since the beginning (touring with Jonas Brothers etc.) It’s about finding the right song and niche that can bring them to the next level.

I agree with you Yein Jee that it’s definitely in finding the right song. Something catchy that will catch people’s attention right away. Like Far East Movement’s G6, the song didn’t make much sense but it was super catchy.

  2. Emilie says:

I agree that they are not bring their Korean flare, but I don’t think it’s most Americans cup of tea.

    • Yein Jee says:

Yeah, conventional Kpop might not appeal much to the American mass no matter how hard they try at the moment. Every journey starts with small steps though.

  3. kyon says:

wonder girls are going backwards with this song. jyp are trying to hard to make them famous by following american trends, but in the end them losing their identity.

    • kyon says:

what i mean is, when you look back to tell me and nobody, it’s so “wonder girls”. but now we don’t know what kind of group they are anymore. the song sucks anyway.
