British born TV host Asha Gill in a commercial for Maxis, a communications service provider in Malaysia. Posting this video mainly because of the endorser, more on her later.
The advert digs at Maxis’s competitors that offer various packages which are sometimes confusing for consumers (me included). On contrary the company is introducing the “simple” MaxisOne plan instead.
Maxis is one of the better mobile network operators in Malaysia in terms of coverage, but it’s arguably the most expensive too. I used their services for many years before switching to Digi which offered cheaper data plans. You get what you pay for though, each company has its pros and cons really.
A bit about Asha Gill
Back to the woman. She’s born in Pembury, United Kingdom, but her career focuses primarily in Malaysia and Singapore. She started working as a VJ on music shows in late 1990’s, and hosted other TV programs over the years in various genre, e.g. travel, games, and documentaries etc.
Her most famous work is probably Lonely Planet Six Degrees, which was Lonely Planet’s flagship travel show. The show aired on Discovery Networks (in 2003-2006) and dozens of international channels. I think it’s the only notable show she has done outside of Malaysia and Singapore.
Used to be a fan during my high school years, and I followed the Six Degrees show too. Haven’t seen much of her on TV in recent years though, she has branched out into other stuff, including some charitable ones. Regardless, it’s good see her on-screen again, and she’s still looking great.
