Launch trailer for Civilization V, the latest instalment of the popular video game series by Firaxis Games. The Windows version came out last week in Europe and North America.
First published in 1991, Civilization is a series of turn-based strategy games which centred on building a civilisation on a macro-scale from prehistoric times up to the near future.
I started playing the game since Civ II and spent some great time with Civ III. I’ve also played a bit of Alpha Centauri, a spin-off from the original franchise. I’ve never played the fourth instalment though, didn’t have much time for gaming in recent years because of work.
Not going to pick this up regardless. If I want to play I’ll buy Civ IV instead because the older version(s) is likely to go on sale soon after the release of the new one; it makes economic sense. Besides, the gameplay seems about the same; the new graphic does look better but that’s a low priority for me.
