Lee Hyori, Miss Korea, 1st Look

May 14, 2013 by Yein Jee

Korean pop star Lee Hyori has released an MV for Miss Korea, a self-composed song from Monochrome, her first album in three years, which will be released on May 21. It tells people to not yield to others’ views, that everyone is a Miss Korea…

Love the song, but I often find irony (lyrics here) when a pretty person tells other that they don’t have to be beautiful (or rich telling poor that wealth means nothing; genius telling average joe blah blah blah etc.) to enjoy life.

The idea is not wrong, people shouldn’t be too bother about outer appearance and materialism to match social expectations; true strength comes from within. Just that it’s awkward when the advice is coming from someone who’s obviously superior.

The “bitter, sexy, bad” Hyori is also featured in 1st Look Magazine [Kr] in celebration of the comeback. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but props for trying…
