Lucky☆Star commercial

May 13, 2008

A bold Japanese advertisement for anime series Lucky☆Star which aired in mid 2007. Not sure if it’s a genius idea or lazy work – it’s unique IMO – the show was a huge success regardless.

Raki Suta

Adapted from a four-panel comic strip manga by Kagami Yoshimizu, Lucky Star tells the story of four high school girls. It doesn’t have a main plot but focuses on the daily lives of the characters.

The main character is Konata Izumi (voiced by Aya Hirano), a girl who likes anime, manga and video games. The role obviously creates plenty of rapport among otaku and anime fans.

Speaking of Aya Hirano, she becomes really popular after working in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in 2006. Kyoto Animation produced both of the TV shows.

Can’t get enough of the video? Below is a longer version for your enjoyment…
