A cute photo series amidst the Covid-19 lockdown in Malaysia. Armed forces are present to assist the police to enforce the Movement Control Order (MCO) across the country. And the soldier is on guard near Masjid India – a red zone in Kuala Lumpur – when a street cat decides to keep him company.
The MCO has been extended until April 28. Don’t quote me on this but the order will probably extend again considering the trend. Happy to be wrong (for good) but the number of new cases have to drop by a huge margin in the next few days to avoid another extension.
In the meantime, enjoy the lighthearted pictures by Aizuddin Saad / Harian Metro.
In real life it’s a street cat and a soldier who find comfort in each other. But in an imaginary world of Japanese anime or fantasy literature, the cat could be a guardian which can transform into a magical beast to aid the master. The prolong stay at home order is giving me weird ideas.
BTW, the post title is a play on An Officer and a Gentleman [Wiki] – a 1982 American romantic drama film starring Richard Gere, Debra Winger and Louis Gossett Jr. The stories are not related besides the military background, but it popped into my mind instantly. Great movie regardless.
Again, thanks to all the people who works hard to tackle the pandemic and keep things running. That includes the medical staff and those who work in essential industries and services etc. For common folks, the least we can do is stay at home, maintain social distance and avoid travels.
The confirmed cases and death toll are still rising. Hope for the best but we probably need a few more weeks to see obvious improvements. Condolences to the unfortunates, and best wishes to others.
