Dined at Farmland Restaurant in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, last Sunday (Jan 4). The restaurant is one of the branches of the restaurant famous for its porridge steamboat.

Double based steamboat, with porridge and tomyam base on each side
Porridge steamboat is originated from Guangdong, China. It’s also commonly seen in Hong Kong and Macau, but I don’t think it’s quite as popular as the usual soup based Chinese hot pots.
The major advantage of porridge steamboat is that it kept the original taste of the ingredients much better than other steamboats; but on contrary couldn’t add much flavour to the food with its relatively tasteless porridge base.
Farmland is said to be the pioneer of porridge steamboat in Malaysia, and their business is expanding pretty well in recent years especially in KL area.
Their food is ok, but I’m not really a fan, mainly due to its overpricing. The bill was RM90+ (~USD25) for two pax; we did order quite a lot, but it’s still slightly upmarket price in Malaysian standard.
