The Sims 3 World Adventures – China

Posted on October 4, 2009 - Topics: Entertainment

American video game company Electronic Arts is going to release its first expansion pack for The Sims 3 next month. The Sims 3: World Adventures will focus on a travel theme, and “China” is one of the three destinations. Check out the trailer below, a bit stereotypical but looks fun…

The Sims is a popular life simulation video game series, you can read more on wikipedia if you are unfamiliar with it. The Sims 3 – the third major title in the franchise – was released last June. It’s a huge success critically and commercially, with 1.4 million copies sold in the first week.

I played The Sims 2, which was decent. You can do whatever you want with no particular goals or endgame… it’s a bit stupid sometimes but in a good, relaxing kinda way. I’m not fond of paying extra for the expansion packs though, it could add up to a few hundred USD to get everything.

The only expansion I bought for Sims 2 was Pets, which was cute BTW. Not planning to get The Sims 3 anytime soon, too busy for video games these days. I’m the type who goes all in or nothing when gaming, it’s difficult for me to slot in game-time between working hours, vice versa.

Back to the World Adventures, it features three new locations which are simplified versions of Egypt, China and France. There’s a new “tomb exploration” concept with quests and treasures. And there are new skills (e.g. martial arts), objects and activities beside the usual stuff.

Update 2017 – Finally got the game during a big sale, almost a decade after they released the core game. The Sims 4 actually came out in between (in 2014) but it’s not as acclaimed as its predecessor. Can’t make comparison personally but I enjoy playing the oldie at the moment.
