Korean music video for Grown Ups by Sondia, it’s an OST for drama series My Mister. The show is my favourite Korean drama in recent years. The song goes well with the plot.
There’s very little information on the singer, Sondia. She works in a few OST but I don’t think she has released any album nor shown her face in public before. At first I thought it was IU, the lead actress, who sings the song as it actually sounds like her voice in many parts; apparently not.
The TV series – also titled as My Ahjussi
Official synopsis… “My Mister tells the story of three middle-aged brothers, who are enduring the weight of their lives, and a strong, cold woman, who has been living a hard life of her own, as they come together in healing each other’s past scars.”
IU stars as Ji-an, a young woman who endures many hardships since childhood, and is debt-ridden because of her late parents. She also has to take care of her ailing grandmother; but can only work in odd jobs because of her low education level. She’s hired to spy on her boss Dong-hoon (Lee Sun-kyun) but falls for his warmth and kindness; and she learns to trust an adult for the first time.
The drama also has side stories on Dong-hoon and his two brothers, and also his group of middle-aged friends. Most of them are having difficulties in their life, be it with family, love or monetary problems. It’s real life issues many people their age (especially the Koreans) can relate with.
The show doesn’t focus too much on the struggles though, it’s about resilient, relationship and hope.
