Check out the trailer for Street Fighter IV, the first original main entry in the popular fighting video game series since 1997. Capcom has released the coin-operated arcade version last year, while the console version will come out next month. The game will also be available on Windows in July 2009.
The cheesy dialogue is a bit annoying, but the video is pretty entertaining visual wise…
Contrary to SF3 which features almost an entirely new set of characters, SF4 brings back many of the beloved warriors from SF2 instead. The arcade version consists of 19 playable characters; and they are introducing another six new fighters to the roster in the console version.
The arcade version of the game is very well received, the console version should do well too. I’m not particularly a fan of the franchise but the game is huge in my generation, at least for people in the Asia Pacific region. I’ll probably pick up the PC version if it’s within my price range.
Speaking of Street Fighter, an English movie based on the video game – i.e. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li – will be released next month too. The timing is probably just a coincidence though.
