Korean actress Song Hye-kyo was recently appointed as a panda’s goodwill ambassador in China. Not sure what her tasks would be, but she got the chance to hug a cuddly (yet probably deceiving) giant panda [via K-popped]…

The 2nd Falconry Festival was held on March 21st at a village in Akqi County, Xinjiang, China. Hundred of falcon tamers, mainly Kyrgyz people, performed various demonstrations during the event.
Falconry (hunting with eagles/falcons) has a long history in the region; Kyrgyz nomads have been hunting with golden eagles for thousand of years. The eagles are known as Berkut in local language, and the activity is called Berkutchi.

A giant panda high up at the Beijing Zoo in China…
Many people don’t know that giant pandas are good climbers; I’m rather amazed though, that the tiny tree branches could support the panda’s weight.

Klias Wetland is a mangrove forest reserve in Sabah, famous for being the habitat of the endangered proboscis monkey (known for its big, long nose) that is endemic to the Borneo Island in South East Asia.
