Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2010 video

December 10, 2010 by Yein Jee

A 12-minute video summary of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York last month. The models who walked the runway include Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Liu Wen and Chanel Iman etc. There were also live performances by singers Akon and Katy Perry.

Victoria’s Secret is an American brand of women’s premium lingerie, clothing and beauty products. It only started global expansion in recent years but many people already know about the brand; its annual show and models (aka the Angels) probably play a huge part in that.

The first VS Fashion Show was held in 1995. It made its network TV broadcast debut in 2001, and it introduced live music acts by pop singers in the same year too. The show also became more widespread overseas in recent years because of YouTube and other online media.

I first watched the show in 2006. I like the event, not going to lie about that; it becomes a bit boring after a few years though, feels like watching the same thing all over again. A summarised video like this one seems about right though.

AKB48 – Ponytail, bikini, sunshine & beach

June 4, 2010 by Yein Jee

Music video for Ponytail to Shushu (ポニーテールとシュシュ, lit. Ponytail & Scrunchy) by Japanese pop group AKB48. The MV was filmed in Guam, with plenty of bikinis, sunshine and beaches; plus a slightly NSFW prelude and a weird doggy.

Contrary to their conservative neighbours, it’s pretty common for mainstream Japanese idols to don in bikinis for MV/pictorials beside the fact that most of them are doing so at teen age. It’s almost a cultural thing, as you can hardly find a popular Japanese female star who has never shot a bikini video or photobook.

The single is doing well with over 500,000 copies sold in the first week after it was released (on May 26). It’s one of the year’s best selling singles to date.
