Love in Disguise movie trailer

July 30, 2010 by Yein Jee

Chinese movie trailer for Love in Disguise, starring Wang Leehom, Liu Yifei and Joan Chen. The film is Wang’s directorial debut and Liu’s first movie since her act in Hollywood production Forbidden Kingdom…

Old school romance-comedy where a pop star is disguising himself to win a girl’s heart. Despite Wang’s years of acting experience he has never convinced me as an actor… doubt that it’s going to change anytime soon.

Legend of the Fist (2010) movie trailer

July 6, 2010 by Yein Jee

Cantonese movie trailer for Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (精武风云-陈真), starring Donnie Yen, Shu Qi and Anthony Wong etc.

I’m a fan of Donnie Yen’s films for the past few years, but I’m not sure about this one. There’s obvious ‘tribute’ to Kungfu legend Bruce Lee here and there, and the Green Hornet like mask man is just LoL. The trailer looks way too comical imo.

The movie will premiere on September 23.

Ip Man 2 movie trailer

April 23, 2010 by Yein Jee

Movie trailer for Ip Man: Legend of The Grandmaster (2010), sequel to the blockbuster Ip Man in 2008. Donnie Yen is starring as legendary martial artist Ip Man, famously known as the master of late Hollywood star Bruce Lee…

The second movie will tell the story of Ip’s struggle and challenge in the 50s after settling to Hong Kong. Set the story aside, the main attraction of the film is on the action choreography which seems pretty promising from the trailer.

The co-stars are Sammo Hung, Huang Xiaoming, Lynn Hung, Simon Yam, Kent Cheng, Louis Fan, Darren Shahlavi and Calvin Cheng.

Ice Kacang Puppy Love movie trailer

March 26, 2010 by Yein Jee

Trailer for Ice Kacang Puppy Love, a Chinese-language Malaysian romance comedy. It’s the directorial debut for singer Ah Niu, who also stars in the movie. The cast also includes Angelica Lee, Gary Chaw, Fish Leong and Victor Wong etc. Most of the cast are better known as singers rather than actors though.

The teaser looks average at best to be frank. Some Malaysians may find comfort in some of the nostalgic little things but that’s probably it. Going to watch this in cinema regardless for the sake of supporting the local filmmakers but they really need to up their standard for long term prospect.

Not sure if it’s getting any overseas release. In cinemas in Malaysia on April 15.

Update – My two cents after watching this. The trailer shows many slapstick stuff but the main plot is about adolescent love. May be better if they make it in a more serious tone instead, not a fan of the childish jokes. Overall it’s decent by local standard, still a long way for this to be marketable overseas.
