People who dressed in ninja costume can travel for free on the Iga railway line in Japan during the annual Iga Ueno Ninja Festival from April 1 to May 6.

Iga is a city 450 kilometres from Tokyo and famous for its history of ninjas. Its ninja museum is a popular tourist attraction and there are also some ninja schools in town.
And there’s the Iga Ueno Ninja Festa, a family-friendly event and probably the biggest of its kind in Japan. Visitors travelled to the festival each spring for ninja related performances and stuff.
I like many things about Japanese traditions and pop culture, but ninja is not one of those. Regardless, I guess it would be a fun scene with thousands of ninjas hanging out in the city. I can imagine having dozen of them enjoying a cozy meal in a ramen shop =)

The Kanamara Matsuri (かなまら祭り; literally the Festival of the Steel Phallus) is an annual fertility festival held in Kawasaki Daishi, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The event is held on every spring, and this year’s main festivity was on April 6.
The festival was once popular among sex workers praying for protection against sexually transmitted diseases. It’s also mentioned as divine protections for business prosperity and the clan’s prosperity, easy delivery, marriage, and married couple harmony, etc. Today, the festival is used to raise money for HIV research. [Wiki]
Basically it’s a festival where you can see penis everywhere… on the mikoshi (portable Shinto shrine), pictures, foods, candies and merchandises. It might sound gross for some people, but the festival is on my wish list as one of the must go event in my life… seems fun for me.

An estimated 20,000 girls attended the Tokyo Girls Collection, a biannual fashion event organised by Girls’ Walker magazine, on Saturday at the Yoyogi Stadium.
Contrary to most of the fashion shows which only invite celebrity guests and VIPs, Tokyo Girls Collection is opened to public with an affordable fee (¥3,000-10,000; ~USD30-100). Info via Japantrends.
Despite the cheap entrance fee, TGC is still as glamorous as other top fashion shows, albeit more casual, with participation of top brands & models and performances by popular artists like TVXQ, Leah Dizon and DJ Ozma etc.
