Korean girl groups wishing Happy Chuseok

September 14, 2008 by Yein Jee

Chuseok (추석 – Full Moon Harvest) is a Korean festival celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month in lunar calendar (Sept 14 in 2008).

Chuseok is one of the two biggest holidays in Korea (the other is Seollal). It is considered the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving and a time to honour ancestors with newly harvested grains and fruits.

As for Korean entertainment fans, it’s the season to see their favourite Korean celebs in traditional Hanbok wishing everyone a happy Chuseok. Sharing a few pics of some female pop groups; image via Newsen [Kr].

Various artist – Cry with Us music video

June 24, 2008 by Yein Jee

Cry with Us is a project album recorded by group of Korean celebrities to help starving children in North Korea. The project aims to give aid to the people in the north and also to send them a message of hope.

Note that the clips in the MV are cuts from South Korean movie Crossing and not real footage; the film is said to be based on real stories though.

Jewelry – One More Time music video

April 17, 2008 by Yein Jee

Korean MV for One More Time by pop group Jewelry. The song is super hit in Korea at the moment, topping KBS Music Bank show for six weeks and dominating other charts as well. Their ET dance is also becoming a pop culture phenomenon.

One More Time is the main track for Kitchi Island, Jewelry’s 5th album and their first since 2005. Two new members (Baby-J & Eunjung) are introduced to fill the spots left by Jo Min-ah and Lee Ji-yun. The group was formed in 2001; Park Jung-ah is the only original member left; the other member, Seo In-young, joined in 2002.

The song is a remake of Italian singer In-Grid’s Encore Un Fois. Quite catchy, but I can’t understand how it managed to become THAT popular. Love Park Jung-ah’s new hairstyle though, makes her look mature and sexy.
