Victoria’s Secret Angels Deck the Halls

December 23, 2012 by Yein Jee

American premium lingerie brand Victoria’s Secrets has summoned its Angels to wish everyone a Merry Christmas by performing a classic carol. Visually pleasing, but as one of the ladies said… it’s not fair to make a model sings.

Featured in this video are Candice Swanepoel, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson and Erin Heatherton.

Victoria’s Secret Angels

Victoria’s Secret Angels are the brand’s contract models. The company introduced the idea in a commercial in 1997, which featured Helena Christensen, Karen Mulder, Daniela Pestova, Stephanie Seymour and Tyra Banks.

The commercial was a huge success, and the Angels began featuring in various advertisements and the brand’s annual fashion show.

There are dozens of Angels past and present. Notable ones (not mentioned above) include Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum and Behati Prinsloo etc.

Not all models who have worked with the brand (catwalks, photo shoots etc.) are classified as Angels though. For example Isabeli Fontana and Angela Lindvall who had walked the Victoria’s Secret fashion show numerous times.

Coca Cola Christmas OFW Project

December 13, 2011 by Yein Jee

Soft drink maker Coca-Cola has initiated an Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) project this Christmas to bring home some Filipinos who have worked abroad for a very long time.

While it’s commendable to live alone on foreign soil for the sake of making a better living for family, I can’t understand how people could survive the world’s most expensive cities and yet couldn’t afford to visit their family back home for once in years. Set aside special cases, most are having the wrong priorities IMO.

Brilliant marketing by Coke regardless, and it brings warmth to these folks. Merry Christmas.

KARA, Japanese Christmas, fried chicken

December 11, 2011 by Yein Jee

A Japanese commercial featuring Korean pop group KARA, advertising for convenience store Family Mart’s fried chicken for the upcoming Christmas celebration.

Fried chicken is synonymous to Christmas party in Japan. The tradition started in the 1970’s after an ingenious marketing campaign by fast food chain KFC (very popular in Japan), that fried chicken was the best alternative to the customary Xmas turkey which was scarce in those days.

Japanese jeweller golden Xmas tree

November 25, 2011 by Yein Jee

Japanese jeweller Ginza Tanaka has unveiled a Christmas tree made of pure gold worth 1.95 million US Dollars. The golden Xmas tree is about 2.4 metres tall and 12 kilograms in weight. It’s currently displayed at the company’s main store in Tokyo.

As expensive as it is, the golden piece is way “cheaper” than the world’s most expensive Christmas tree (~$11mil) which was showcased at a luxury hotel in UAE last year.
