The inaugural Anime Festival Asia was held last weekend (Nov 22-23) at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Singapore. Was planning to travel south for the event but couldn’t make it; had to attend a wedding dinner.

Japan escalator accident
At least 20 people have been injured (minor injuries mostly) following an escalator failure in Japan a few days ago. The freak accident happened at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre where the Summer Wonder Festival was held.
The Tokyo Wonder Festival is a biannual event which showcases figurines and garage-kits which attracts thousands of visitors each time. The escalator, which was supposed to be ascending, couldn’t support the weight of the massive crowd and succumbed to gravity instead, causing the chaos.
Akihabara Liberation Demo – otaku freedom!!!
Hundreds of Japanese otaku took part in the Akihabara Liberation Demonstration last Saturday to protest against otaku discrimination.
