The Wonder Girls (2012) TV-movie trailer

January 28, 2012 by Yein Jee

Trailer for The Wonder Girls, an American TV-movie starring the namesake Korean pop group. Looks cheap to be frank, though many fans sometime forgotten the fact that the girls are actually not too old (average about 21 of age) to do this stuff…

Despite their age, Wonder Girls have been around for a few years now, the movie concept is not something that seems fit at this stage of their career.

Some might argue that they need the exposure in the US, but in this internet era whatever they do is under global microscope… they are (at least were) treated like princesses at certain part of the world, but traded their prestige for the sake of making some new fans in America. One step forward, two steps back.

Wonder Girls – The DJ Is Mine music video (ft. School Gyrls)

January 12, 2012 by Yein Jee

New English music video by Korean pop group Wonder Girls, The DJ Is Mine, featuring American pop group School Gyrls. The song will be used as OST for upcoming Wonder Girls themed TV-movie (co-starring the School Gyrls as well)…

Everything looks/sounds more westernised than ever. Not my cup of tea, but Wonder Girls probably have better chance to make it in the US with this genre. I’ve always felt that it’s pointless though, for K-pop artists to make it big in the west by adapting too much to western pop while bringing nothing new. Perhaps I’m expecting too much.

School Gyrls – Something Like A Party music video

August 18, 2010 by Yein Jee

Music video for Something Like A Party by American teenage pop trio School Gyrls which was released in February 2010. The group consists of members Amanda Mosley, Jacque Pyles and Filipino-American Monica Parales…

The ladies are getting some attention in Korea following their opening act for Korean pop groups Wonder Girls and 2PM in their recent American concert. I guess we’ll see more collaborations between the two units in future.
