Korea’s French fries coated hot dog on a stick

February 23, 2010 by Yein Jee

Sausage wrapped in batter and French fries instead of normal bun, and it’s poked on a bamboo stick for you to hold on. Genius, only in Korea…

French fries coated hot dog in Seoul, South Korea

It’s a common street food in Seoul, most often seen at night markets; had mine at Dongdaemun area. You can’t go wrong with sausages and fries; it’s always good.

Burmurry Seoul restaurant, South Korea

Burmurry is a franchise in Seoul selling traditional Korean food, i.e. tteokbokki, odeng, sundae etc. There’s a branch nearby my hostel which I frequent…

Teokbokki and fried dumplings at Burmurry Seoul restaurant

I like their teokbokki. The rice cake is standard stuff, and it’s a matter of different spiciness and sweetness with the sauce, in which their version fits my taste.

The restaurant also sells fried dumplings and twigim aka batter-dipped-fried-stuff (squid, shrimp, vege etc.). It’s tempting to have some oily food once in a while lol.

Some traditional Korean food which I’ve had since arriving in Seoul…

Tteokbokki and Odeng @ Namdaemun Market

Popular snack food; had these at a street stall in Namdaemun market. Tteokbokki are sliced rice cakes broiled in sweet-spicy sauce; while odeng (or eomuk) are boiled fish cakes which probably originated from Japan.
