An old pal posted this photo on Facebook. It’s taken when we were 13, with our classmates and an intern-teacher who taught us for a few months.
Feels like it’s just yesterday, all those bittersweet memories. But over 18 years have gone by since, time flies. Oh, and I am the one on the furthest right.

If you visit a Buddhist temple in South Korea you are likely to see some of these little stone pagodas, stacked randomly by monks or visitor to show appreciation to the land and environment (sort of a spiritual thing)…
I think these days it’s also meant as prayers for good health and luck etc.

Reached home in Kuala Lumpur on Monday evening after staying in Seoul for close to three months. I’ll miss a few things, especially the new found friends.
Had to leave my hostel in early morning to catch my flight and managed to hitch on my cheapest taxi ride ever. I was waiting for the airport bus and this airport taxi dropped by and offered to give me a fetch for 10,000 won (~ USD10), about the same price for the bus for an hour long trip.
Obviously the cabby was on his way to start his work at the airport and decided to make some pocket money along the journey. Generally it’s a wise idea for lone traveller to say “no” to these unplanned rides due to safety reason, but I somehow decided to take a bit of risk.

One of the most anticipated things that I hope to see during my Korea stay is the cherry blossoms, but the blooming is arriving late this year… I’m going to miss out the full bloom for sure. Well, things don’t always happen in our favour, that’s life.
There’s still a bit of consolation though… managed to sight a bit of cherry blossom in Yeouido. The area is one of Seoul’s most famous cherry blossom sites with 1400 cherry trees along a 5.7 km avenue. There’s only 40-50 trees which are blooming; but I’ll take that anyway, it’s better than nothing at all…

My last week in Seoul. Will be heading back home by next Monday (Apr 12).
I’ve pretty much covered most attractions in Seoul (albeit not writing much about it)… been thinking about re-visiting a few places, but lacking motivation to do so. I’m actually a bit tired of riding on the subway; it’s convenient, but… I’m not sure how to put it in words… it frustrates me somehow.
The only thing that I’m eagerly awaiting is the cherry blossom, which is coming a bit late this year. It’s expected to start in the next few days in Seoul, so I should be able to see it at its peak before I leave the country.
I’m staying just in Seoul till the end; didn’t wander out of the city except for a day trip to Suwon which is just an hour from central Seoul. Most people might find this odd… like I should be travelling to other provinces especially a few of the major tourist attractions instead of spending all three months in the same city.
