Travelogue of my 5D4N trip to Mount Bromo, a sleeping volcano in East Java, Indonesia, in November 2009. Below is a summary of the trip; check the links for more stories and photos, or read the stories in standard blog format.
Nov 10 – Arrived at Juanda Airport, Surabaya, and headed straight to Cemoro Lawang, just beside the Tengger Caldera where the Mt Bromo resides. Check in at Cemara Indah Hotel in evening, took an early rest.
Nov 11 – Woke up early in the morning, rode a jeep to Penanjakan viewpoint to catch the sunrise and majestic view of Mt Semeru-Bromo-Batok (pic).
Went to the foothill of Mt Bromo after that and took a horse ride up the mountain to have a close look at the Bromo volcano; followed by a wild jeep ride across the sand sea and savannah before heading back to the hotel for breakfast.
Had a brief walk in Cemoro Lawang village in the afternoon.
Nov 12 – Morning trip to Madakaripura Waterfall, probably the most beautiful waterfall that I’ve ever been. Scenic journey along the road.
Can’t remember how I spent the afternoon. Staying three days at the place is not a good idea… it’s ok if you could appreciate the scenery; else it’s a bit boring.
Nov 13 – Leaving Bromo, heading back to the city of Surabaya. Went to visit one of the largest shopping malls; drank a cup of expensive caveat’s coffee.
Nov 14 – Walked a bit in Surabaya; flew back to Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon.
