AKB48-YJ7, a sub-unit of Japanese girl group AKB48, is featured in recent issue of Weekly Young Jump [Jp]. The unit consists of seven of the group’s 48 members, i.e. Minami Minegishi, Rie Kitahara, Miori Ichikawa, Suzuran Yamauchi, Yui Yokoyama, Amina Sato and Aika Ota.

Japanese pop group AKB48 has released their 20th single, Sakura no Ki ni Narō (桜の木になろう, lit. becoming a cherry tree), on February 16. AKB48’s Beginner sold over a million copies
Japanese pop group AKB48’s latest single, Beginner, has sold over a million copies since its release in late October – a feat which was last achieved in Japan by tenor Akikawa Masafumi’s Sen no Kaze ni Natte in 2007.

AKB48 launches official Youtube channel
Japanese pop group AKB48 have launched their official Youtube channel. Most of their major singles since 2008 (after switching to King Records) have been uploaded, and the company will continue to update the channel contents.

AKB48 – Go! Fight! Japan!
Japanese pop group AKB48 are featured in a special pullout in BLT Magazine [Jp] with a FIFA World Cup theme. The blue T & white pants are the iconic uniform for the Japanese national football team which is one of the four Asian reps in South Africa.
The featured AKB48 members are Atsuko Maeda, Aki Takajo, Mariko Shinoda, Haruna Kojima, Yuki Kashiwagi, Tomomi Kasai, Sae Miyazawa, Rie Kitahara, Minami Takahashi, Minami Minegishi and Tomomi Itano. Couldn’t find solo pics for the last two though.
